Home Learning

At The Bemrose Primary phase we have put in place a new Home Learning programme of study for all the children from EYFS to Year 6. We believe that home learning is an important part of children’s development and the tasks that they will be set are a consolidation of the work that they will be doing in school. The children in EYFS will have a focus on fine motor skill development and the children in KS1 and KS2 will be set English and Maths tasks per week using digital platforms. The digital platforms are Century, which will be used by our children in KS2 and Numberbots for our KS1 children. Our Year 1 children will be set additional Home Learning activities to develop their reading and Phonic skills.

Your child or children, regardless of their age, are expected to read at least 3 times a week. Reading is held in such high regard in our school and will remain a main focus for our children.

We also have Knowledge Organisers for each year group. These will contain key information for the topic that your child will be studying that half term. The Knowledge Organisers will also have some tasks on them that we are encouraging children to complete. These are not compulsory but are activities that will engage other subjects that the children may enjoy, such as; Art, Music, History, RE or Science.  Each Knowledge Organiser task completed by your child will be shared in their class and awarded 5 dojos. Please click on the individual Home Learning sections below to find your child’s half termly year group Knowledge Organiser.

Educational research indicates that Home Learning can have a high impact on a child’s learning and we strongly agree in strengthening the bond between school and home when it comes to our children’s education.
